  • MG-101 Remote Bonnet Release kit. This is a kit to add a secondary bonnet release to your MGB. If you have ever had your bonnet release cable break or the handle come off in your hand, then you know the frustration of trying to open your bonnet without a remote release. The MG-101 provides a stainless steel cable that exits the engine compartment under the left front fender. Two fingers operate it with a gentle tug on a loop in the cable. A single hole needs to be drilled in the inner fender for installation. Once this kit is installed, there will be no need to reach under the dash to open your bonnet. The kit is installed to work in conjunction, or separately, with your original release, but most users find that it is much easier to use than the original so they never use the original release.

  • MG-102-This kit replaces the original seat packing strips and hardware with 1/4" thick aluminum strips, cut and drilled to fit the original hole locations, and painted with black paint. Also included are new 1/4" thick spacers and new pointed stainless steel bolts. These packings are of a different design from the original design in the fact that the packings rest on top of the spacers instead of the carpet. They provide more rigidity to the seat rails to avoid warping and bending and to insure when properly installed that the seat slides freely. If your seat rails are slightly bent this will help keep them flat so that they slide freely. The above pics show the strips unpainted for clarity but will be delivered painted black.

  • MG-103-This kit closely copies the original design of the wooden packing strips. New packing strips are made from black 1/4" thick PVC, and machined to fit around the spacers, just like the originals. This kit also includes new spacers of factory thickness and new stainless steel bolts, pointed as the originals were. If you want to stick with the original design but improve the quality of the wooden packings, this is the kit for you.
Both kits are hidden from view when installed.
One of the problems with the original wooden
strips is that they will absorb moisture and then
hold it in the carpet, eventually rotting both the
packing strips and the carpet, and rusting your
floors. The GEM Enterprises packing strips will
not absorb any moisture. Please note that the
packing strips use bolt spacing of 14 1/2” and
that some early cars have been found with
different spacing. If your car uses a different
spacing, for any reason, contact me about
making your strips on a custom order basis, at no
     additional charge.

  • MG-104- Stainless steel stalk buttons to replace the tired old rusty buttons on your windshield wiper and turn signal stalks. These will not rust like the original chrome-plated items. If you desire, they can easily be polished to a high luster, as well. Please note that some late MGBs use solid plastic  stalk ends. These buttons will not fit these cars. Check your old stalk ends with a magnet to avoid a dissappointment

  • MG-105 is a pair of specially sized stainless steel wire brushes designed to clean those female Luclar connectors that are constant trouble to British car owners. A few strokes of this brush and the corrosion is removed.

  • MG-106-Steering Column Replacement Top Bush kit. This bushing replaces the worn out original ball bearing unit supplied on 1968 through 1976 collapsible steering columns. Once it is installed, the up and down and side play will disappear. The replacement bushing is made of ultra high density polyethylene, is self lubricating and should last forever. The installation takes less than a hour in most cases and there is no need to remove the column from the car.

  • MG-107-Steering Column Replacement Bushing Kit, This kit replaces both the top and bottom ball bearings with ultra high density polyethylene bushings. Installation requires the removal of the steering column from the car so the column can be completely disassembled. It is considerably more work than MG-106 and is only recommended if you are able to completely remove the steering column. Most of the time, when the top bearing fails, the bottom bearing is still functional.

  • As an additional service, I will rebuild 1977 and later steering columns using custom fitted bushings of my design. This service includes disassembly of the column, repair of the slip-joint in the steering shaft, both top and bottom bearings replaced and hand fitted with my poly bushings and the whole column repainted. Please contact me for more info on this service. I try to maintain a few columns in stock that have already been rebuilt to be sold on an exchange basis. Please inquire
